About the MIRACLE Center

The Multilevel Interventions for Maternal Health and Disparities (MIRACLE) Center is an NIH-funded Maternal Health Research Center of Excellence committed to advancing women’s health and reducing health disparities.  

This statewide Center includes three large projects reducing pregnancy-related illness and death in Michigan. Projects help populations disproportionately impacted. The Center partners with mothers, families, community leaders, health system leaders, and policymakers to create needed changes. For more information or to partner, please reach out to us at mmiracle@msu.edu 

The MIRACLE Center is one of 12 Centers of Research Excellence nationwide funded by NIH’s IMPROVE (Implementing a Maternal health and PRegnancy Outcomes Vision for Everyone) initiative. NIH funding amount for the Center is close to $19 mil. over 7 years starting in 2023.

Study Participants

MIRACLE Center Reach

 

20 counties throughout Michigan will be impacted by the work of the Center, covering a population of more than 7 million individuals.

Counties participating in Project 1 include: Genesee, Kent, and Wayne.

Counties participating in Project 2 include: Chippewa, Genesee, Grand Traverse, Kent, Midland, Otsego, Roscommon, and Shiawassee.

Counties participating in Project 3 include: Berrien, Calhoun, Ingham, Isabella, Jackson, Kalamazoo, Macomb, Muskegon, Oakland, Saginaw, Washtenaw, and Wayne.
